How you can help

This How You Can Help

Together we can change how systems treat people – and how people experience those systems.
Whether you’re an individual, organisation or decision-maker, there are real, practical ways you can support bthechange CIC.

1. Support Our Work Financially

Your financial support helps us provide the practical, immediate help people need when they’re at their most vulnerable – and the long-term work that changes systems.

You can help by:

  • Making a one-off donation
Help us respond quickly when someone leaves prison with no accommodation, no income and no support.
  • Setting up a regular gift
Monthly giving allows us to plan, sustain and grow programmes like women’s transition support and Safe Haven emergency accommodation.
  • Corporate giving & sponsorship
Partner with us as your social impact or CSR partner – supporting specific programmes, pilot projects or community events.
  • Commissioning our training
Our income from training in prisons, probation and public services is reinvested directly into community-led work.

2. Partner With Us

We believe change happens when lived experience, communities and systems work together.

We are keen to work with:

  • Prisons, probation & justice agencies
To improve procedural justice, race equality, transitions and trust in complaint and reporting processes.
  • Local authorities & public services
To co-design anti-racist, trauma-informed approaches to housing, health and community safety.
  • VCSE and grassroots organisations
To build principled spaces, shared networks of support and stronger referral pathways.
  • Universities & researchers
To independently evaluate our work and build the evidence base for what works.

3. Volunteer Your Time & Skills

We are building a network of people who want to stand alongside those most affected by racism, the criminal justice system and inequality.

You could support by:

  • Mentoring and peer support
Walking alongside someone as they transition from prison or probation back into community.
  • Sharing professional skills
E.g. HR, comms, fundraising, data, evaluation, digital, graphic design or legal know-how.
  • Practical help
Supporting groups, events and community spaces – from making food and setting up rooms to co-facilitating sessions.
  • Lived experience leadership
If you have personal experience of the issues we work on, we want to build with you, not just for you.

4. Amplify Our Work

If you can’t give time or money right now, you can still make a real difference.

You can help by:

  • Sharing our stories and campaigns
Follow us on social media, share our posts and help us reach people who need support or want to be allies.
  • Inviting us to speak
We can contribute to panels, conferences, staff away days and community events.
  • Introducing us to others
Connect us with potential partners, funders, commissioners and community leaders.

5. Commission Our Expertise

By commissioning bthechange CIC, you are directly funding community-based, anti-racist work across the South West and Wales.

We provide:

  • Training & development
Procedural justice, anti-racism, cultural competency, principled spaces, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Independent scrutiny & review
Support on race, use of force, complaint systems and community confidence.
  • Programme design & facilitation
Co-designed interventions in prisons, probation and communities, with lived experience at the centre.
